- Role: PhD Candidate

My PhD studies focus on the effect of antibodies in myositis. Myositis is an autoimmune disease in which patients experience muscle weakness and fatigue. The cause of the weakness is yet unknown. We hypothesize that antibodies in the blood of these patients play a major role. We are studying the effects of these antibodies on muscle contractility and the underlying mechanisms. The goal is to identify targets for more personalized therapeutic treatment to improve their quality of life. My supervisors are Joost Raaphorst (AmsterdamUMC, Neurology) and Coen Ottenheijm (AmsterdamUMC, Physiology)
