Anne Bruijnes

Anne Bruijnes studied medicine at the University of Utrecht and finished her neurology training in 2020 at Zuyderland Medical Centre in Heerlen. Since June 2020 she has been working as a neurologist specializing in neuromuscular disorders at Maastricht UMC+. Her specific area of interest is myotonic dystrophy type 1.
In 2022 Anne started her PhD on improving care for myotonic dystrophy type 1. She will investigate how care for patients can be optimized, both through digital healthcare, cost of illness study, and better information provision for patients. Her supervisors are prof. dr. Karin Faber (neurologist), dr. Janneke Hoeijmakers (neurologist) and dr. Els Vanhoutte (clinical geneticist). In addition, she serves as a medical advisor for the myotonic dystrophy diagnosis group at the patient association Spierziekten Nederland. She also is a member of the Dutch Society of Neurology and the European Academy of Neurology.
