Spiertocht: connection in motion
The Spiertocht, organised by Fay-Lynn Asselman, Claudia Schreven, Charlotte van Esch, Bas Koenders, and Yvonne Meijer-Krom on behalf of the three Dutch paediatric neuromuscular centres and Spierziekten Nederland, brought the neuromuscular community together in an exceptional way.

With 450 participants, including patients, families, and over 300 healthcare professionals from across the country, the event demonstrated true connection across care, research, and lived experience. A striking moment was seeing the square in front of the Serious Request Glass House filled with participants wearing the iconic blue Spiertocht beanies, forming one strong and recognisable collective. Walking, running and cycling together towards ’s-Hertogenbosch, we participants raised an impressive €165.031. Our thanks to everyone who contributed and made this possible!

- Spieren voor Spieren

Spierziekten Zorgnetwerk Noord-Nederland also took part on 20 December 2025 in the national “Spiertocht” for 3FM Serious Request. With a team from Revalidatie Friesland, Treant, the Center for Rehabilitation at UMCG, and the multidisciplinary neuromuscular team at UMCG, we joined forces to raise an amazing amount for Spieren voor Spieren together with all participants nationwide in the Spiertocht! A great example of how a Neuromuscular Care Network can work together and become stronger as one.
