Published on:

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sander Oorschot as the new Program Manager of Spierziekten Centrum Nederland (SCN).

Sander brings a strong background in neuromuscular multidisciplinary research, combined with experience in connecting research, clinical practice, and collaboration across national networks. He completed his PhD at Amsterdam UMC, where his research focused on improving physical fitness in people with neuromuscular diseases. Through his work, he contributed to advancing knowledge on exercise interventions and implementation in daily practice.

As Program Manager, Sander’s main responsibility will be to further develop and implement SCN’s multi-year strategy, “From Trial Readiness to Treatment Readiness”. In close collaboration with the SCN board, he will work with clinicians, researchers, patient representatives, and partner organisations to strengthen collaboration across the Dutch neuromuscular field and translate SCN’s strategic ambitions into concrete actions and sustainable impact.

Sander’s combination of scientific expertise, network experience, and collaborative, forward-looking approach make him ideally positioned to help guide SCN through this important transition. As innovative therapies become increasingly available for people living with neuromuscular diseases, SCN is committed to ensuring that healthcare systems, professionals, and research infrastructures are prepared for the future.

Sander looks forward to building new collaborations and strengthening existing ones, both within and outside SCN. If you would like to connect, feel free to reach out for a (virtual) coffee at sander.oorschot@spierziektencentrum.nl.
