Wendy Winter
- Role: PhD Candidate
My research focuses on new treatment options for idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM). Together with the Department of Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology, one of my main projects is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CAR T-cell therapy for IIM patients and patients with other autoimmune diseases. CAR T-cell therapy is a novel treatment in which we genetically engineer immune cells from the patient to clear out the overactive immune cells. With my background as both a clinician and a biomedical scientist, my aim is to connect basic laboratory science to direct patient care.
