Prof. Dr. Yigal M. Pinto

  • Role: Full Professor, Cardiology

My scientific research focuses on diseases of the heart muscle that lead to heart failure, particularly hereditary heart conditions caused by mutations in genes such as LaminTitin, and RBM20. These mutations can also result in muscular disorders. My research spans both clinical and experimental approaches.

I am affiliated with Amsterdam UMC and participate in European working groups dedicated to cardiomyopathies. For example, I contributed to drafting the new European guidelines on dilated cardiomyopathy, fostering extensive collaboration with colleagues across Europe on these diseases. Additionally, I coordinate European-funded research exploring potential new treatments to mitigate the effects of Lamin mutations.
