Prof. Dr. K. Vernooy

Prof. Dr. Vernooy is a cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology (pacemakers, ICDs, and the treatment of arrhythmias). He studied medicine in Maastricht. After completing his medical training, he combined his cardiology residency with doctoral research on cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). He obtained his PhD in 2006 and became a cardiologist in 2011. In 2012, he completed his subspecialization as a cardiologist-electrophysiologist. His focus area is the invasive treatment of rhythm and conduction disorders in patients with heart failure. In January 2020, he was appointed professor. On March 1, 2021, he was appointed head of the Department of Cardiology, and as of May 1, 2024, he has been named Medical Director of the Heart+Vascular Center.
