My PhD research focuses on improving the understanding and care of people with neuromuscular diseases through patient registries and personalized rehabilitation. I work within both the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Department of Neurology, mainly studying myositis, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, and other neuromuscular diseases.

I use patient registries, including the Dutch Myositis Registry, Dutch CMT Registry and CRAMP, to better understand these diseases, their impact on daily life, and to support future research. These registries also help identify and invite patients for new studies and clinical trials. I use patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to capture patients’ experiences and functioning.

In addition, my research focuses on clinical exercise physiology and personalized rehabilitation. I study tailored rehabilitation approaches, including exercise therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, to improve daily functioning for people with myositis and severe fatigue.
