Myrthe Willems completed her neurology training at OLVG and Amsterdam UMC in 2022. During her residency, she developed a special interest in neuromuscular disorders and inflammatory neurological diseases. After working as a neurologist at Diakonessenhuis Utrecht, she started a fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases at Amsterdam UMC in 2025.

During this fellowship, she further specializes in the full spectrum of neuromuscular disorders, with a particular focus on inflammatory conditions such as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and myositis. In addition to her clinical work, she is pursuing a PhD focusing on the safety and side effects of medications used to treat neuromuscular diseases.
