Kris Leeuwenberg
- Role: Resident Neurology, Phd Candidate

My PhD focuses on clinical outcome measures for medication trials in rare neurological diseases, with a specific focus on myotonic dystrophy and spinocerebellar ataxia. I investigate the functionality and reliability of existing outcome measures, including both disease-specific tools (such as clinical assessments or questionnaires) and more general measures. A key aspect of my research is the examination of the characteristics of the Goal Attainment Scale, a method based on individually set goals. The overall aim of my research is to provide reliable and meaningful ways to assess these diseases, thereby improving how treatment effectiveness is evaluated in trials. My supervisors are Karlien Mul, Bart van de Warrenburg, and Nicol Voermans (all neurologists at Radboudumc Nijmegen).
I am combining my research work with my residency in neurology at the Radboudumc.
