Kevin van Veenhuijzen
- Role: Neurologist in training, PhD Candidate

I studied medicine at Utrecht University, where I am currently working as a physician specializing in neurology at UMC Utrecht. Additionally, I conduct doctoral research in Experimental Neurology at the ALS Center. My research focuses on motor neuron diseases, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Using MRI scans of the brain, I aim to identify which regions of the central nervous system are affected by this disease. Specifically, I investigate differences in the location and degree of degeneration among individuals with various genetic mutations and explore the influence of environmental factors. The goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying ALS and to generate new ideas for slowing or even preventing disease progression.
