  • Role: PhD Candidate

After completing my medical studies and research master’s in neuroscience, I worked for a year as a medical resident in the Neurology department of Maasstad Hospital in Rotterdam. In 2020, I began my PhD research on Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD) and limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) at LUMC.

My research primarily consists of natural history studies. I contributed to establishing a national registry for LGMD to generate an ongoing description of the epidemiology of LGMD, identify differences in the natural course among various subtypes, and facilitate patient recruitment for scientific research.

Additionally, we are conducting a natural history study on BMD. Through this study, we aim to gain a better understanding of the variation in disease progression and the relationship between biomarkers and function.
