Dr Menno van der Holst is a pediatric physical therapist and post doc researcher at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). He is working for the Duchenne Center Netherlands (embedded in the LUMC) both in clinical care and in research. He has over 16 years of experience in pediatric neuromuscular care, especially in DMD and he is involved in multiple research projects and medication trials in DMD. His expertise lies in outcome measures to monitor natural history of DMD and other neuromuscular diseases. Furthermore, he was involved in creating a guideline on training, range of motion management and rehabilitation based on the 2018 international DMD standards of care. Currently he is researching training and lifestyle programs in pediatric neuromuscular disorders in order to provide children with tailored treatment to improve activity and promote a healthy lifestyle.
