Dr. Martijn Tannemaat
- Role: Neurologist, Clinical Neurophysiologist

After completing my PhD research at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience on the application of gene therapy as an experimental treatment for nerve injuries, I began my training as a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist at LUMC in 2008. During my training, I spent three months at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London to further specialize in the diagnosis of neuromuscular diseases in children. Since 2014, I have been working full-time as a neurologist at LUMC. As a clinical neurophysiologist, I am responsible for conducting diagnostic tests for patients with neuromuscular diseases. Additionally, as a neurologist, I treat patients with myasthenia gravis and nerve injuries.
I am involved in research focusing on the development of new diagnostic tests for myasthenia gravis, the various clinical manifestations of the disease, and the causes and treatment of fatigue in people with myasthenia gravis.
Beyond my clinical and research responsibilities, I am actively engaged in teaching medical and clinical technology students. I also serve as head of the Clinical Neurophysiology section and as deputy training coordinator for neurology specialization.
