Dr. Marjolijn Ketelaar
- Role: Associate Professor

Since 1999, I have worked as a researcher in pediatric rehabilitation, following my studies in Human Movement Sciences with additional training in Neuro- and Rehabilitation Psychology, and my PhD research on physiotherapy for children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). My research has focused for many years on the development of children with CP, particularly the role of parents.
At the Rehabilitation Medicine Knowledge Center Utrecht (a collaboration between UMC Utrecht and De Hoogstraat Rehabilitation), I lead the pediatric rehabilitation research program. This program emphasizes (Family) Empowerment and family-centered care, working closely with partners such as CanChild, Center for Childhood Disability Research, McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada.
Since 2016, my research has expanded to include improving care for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), focusing on quality of life and the support needs of parents of children with SMA.
