Dr. Margot Geerts
- Role: Postdoctoral Researcher, Nurse Practitioner Neuromuscular Diseases

I started as a nurse at Maastricht UMC+ in 2000 and completed my Master in Advanced Nursing Practice in 2007. Since then, I have worked as a nurse practitioner with a focus on the diagnosis and treatment of (poly-)neuropathy.
Since 2015, I have been part of the neuromuscular diseases team, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of small fiber neuropathy (SFN). Additionally, I collaborate with colleagues at Maastricht UMC+ to enhance the role of nurse practitioners within the organization and actively contribute to the Nursing Advisory Council (VAR).
My PhD research focuses on intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIg) for the treatment of SFN. We are investigating whether IVIg has a beneficial effect on pain symptoms, autonomic symptoms, quality of life, and daily functioning in SFN patients.
