Dr. Isis B.T. Joosten
- Role: Physician researcher

Isis Joosten studied Medicine at Maastricht University. During her Master’s, she first encountered research through a scientific internship focused on the diagnostics of small fiber neuropathy. Due to her interest in Neurology and her growing research ambitions, she began studying the neuromuscular disease Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 (DM1), also known as Steinert’s disease, during her studies. She will continue her work on this condition through a clinical PhD project that started in November 2017. As part of this PhD trajectory, she is involved in the nationwide registry for DM1 (MYODRAFT study), the genetic inheritance of the disease, and the altered energy metabolism in affected patients.
