Since January 2018, I have been working as a rehabilitation physician at the UMC Utrecht Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, specializing in pediatric rehabilitation with a focus on neuromuscular disorders. At the Spieren voor Spieren Children’s Center, I provide care for children with conditions such as SMA, HMSN, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and congenital myopathies.

Together with my colleague Annette van der Geest, I have established a multidisciplinary treatment team specializing in the care of children with neuromuscular disorders. This approach ensures close collaboration between pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation and adult rehabilitation services across the Spieren voor Spieren Children’s Center and UMC Utrecht.

My PhD research focuses on contractures in children with SMA and their impact on daily functioning.
