Dr. Filip Eftimov

  • Role: Neurologist

In 2012, I completed my training as a neurologist, after which I remained affiliated with the Neurology Department of the Academic Medical Center as a fellow in neuromuscular diseases. Since 2016, I have been a staff member working as a neuromyologist. My expertise particularly focuses on neuropathies and neuroinflammatory disorders such as myositis and (encephalo)myelitis.

My research primarily focuses on chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). I coordinate several multicenter studies with both clinical and translational aspects. Together with Bart Jacobs and Ludo van der Pol, we initiated the International CIDP Outcome Study to systematically collect data and biomaterials for CIDP. Recently, I organized an ENMC workshop to establish an international standard for combining data from various national CIDP databases. Additionally, I am involved in research on myositis and sarcoidosis at the AMC and participate in studies conducted by the ALS Center Netherlands.
