Dr. Corrie Erasmus appointed Associate Professor
As of March 1, 2025, Dr. Corrie Erasmus has been appointed Associate Professor of “Pediatric Neuromuscular Diseases.”

This is a significant step in her career, which simultaneously strengthens the direction of the Children’s Muscle Center. Corrie will continue to jointly lead the Children’s Muscle Center, which is part of the Radboud Expertise Center for Muscle Diseases. The Children’s Muscle Center provides care at the highest level: multidisciplinary, but with significant logistical challenges, especially due to increasingly concrete treatments. Corrie focuses on further strengthening collaboration and networking with other subspecialties, both within and outside the hospital walls. This is to optimize patient flow, promote multidisciplinary care, and stimulate research activities. She will establish an innovative network focused on prevention and lifestyle. This network will enable the treatment and guidance of young children with and without muscle diseases in primary and secondary care, allowing them to benefit from preventive care before problems arise. Additionally, there is strong collaboration with her adult colleagues, both in care and science. The transition of care from children to adult care has already been successfully implemented for some neuromuscular diseases but needs to be further strengthened and expanded to other muscle diseases to ensure continuity of care. Corrie is committed to translating scientific discoveries and innovative approaches into actual care. With this new role, Corrie takes an important step in the future of care and scientific research for children with neuromuscular disorders.
