My PhD research focuses on understanding abnormal immune responses in myositis and use of JAK inhibitors as a novel treatment strategy. I work at the departments of neurology, rheumatology and experimental immunology and combine expertise from these departments in my PhD research.

Myositis is a chronic debilitating autoimmune disease mainly affecting the muscles, but other organs can also be involved. Current treatments are insufficiently effective with many patients having chronic disease activity. More knowledge about the underlying abnormal immune responses in myositis may help identify new targets for better and more personalized treatments.

In my PhD research we also study the use of JAK inhibitors as a novel treatment strategy in myositis. JAK inhibitors are already proven to be effective in other rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and may also be effective in myositis.

My goal in my PhD research is to better understand the abnormal immune responses in myositis and improve current treatment strategies.
