Sven Schiemanck is a rehabilitation physician in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at LUMC. As a rehabilitation physician, he provides rehabilitation advice and coordinates rehabilitation in primary care. For multidisciplinary rehabilitation treatment, he collaborates with rehabilitation centers, and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at LUMC has a partnership with Rehabilitation Center Basalt, which has multiple locations in South Holland, including Leiden and The Hague.

His specialization is in neurorehabilitation, including rehabilitation for neuromuscular disorders. From 2005 to 2015, he served as the head of the Neuro Team in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, focusing on rehabilitation treatment for HMSN, polio, myotonic dystrophy, and other muscle diseases.

Since 2015, he has been the head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at LUMC and a rehabilitation physician at the Neuromuscular Center, with specific areas of expertise such as FSHD, IBM, Duchenne, and Becker.

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at LUMC has a Movement Clinic and is recognized as an Expertise Center for patients with movement limitations due to conditions affecting (the control of) the musculoskeletal system. The department maintains a collaboration with Rehabilitation Center Basalt, which has multiple locations in South Holland, including Leiden, Delft, Gouda, and The Hague.
