Makeda (Candace Makeda Moore) has a significant background in both clinical medicine and software engineering. As an engineer she was focused on medical image processing. She now is involved in research to understand the mechanisms underpinning muscular dystrophies,  specifically Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophie (LGMD) and Becker Muscular Dystrophy (BMD).

Her research focuses on integrating clinical, radiological, spatial transcriptomic and histological data from patients with LGMD and BMD.
